RPM calculator

Formula

RPM = (Vc × 1000) ÷ (π × D)

Vc in m/min and D in mm. Never exceed the tool or machine maximum RPM.

Feed-rate calculator

From chip load, flute count and RPM.

Formula

Feed = chip load × flutes × RPM

Chip load should come from manufacturer data or conservative testing.

Chip-load calculator

Calculate chip load from actual feed rate.

Formula

Chip load = avance ÷ (RPM × dents)

Compare the result with the range published by the tool manufacturer.

Cutting-speed calculator

From tool diameter and RPM.

Formula

Vc = (π × D × RPM) ÷ 1000

D in mm. The result is shown in m/min and SFM. It does not replace the manufacturer rated maximum speed.

Cutting-length check

Check that the cutting portion covers the thickness to be cut through.
